Welcome to the Birmingham Scottish Rite Website.
Here you will find information on Freemasonry as well as Birmingham Scottish
Rite information.

Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest
Fraternity. Its singular purpose is to make good men better. Our
fraternity's
history and tradition date to a ntiquity, and its bonds of friendship,
compassion and brotherly love have survived even the most divisive
political, military and religious conflicts through the centuries.
Many of our nation's founders were Freemasons, including thirteen
signers of the United States Constitution. Fourteen Presidents of the
United States, beginning with George Washington, were Freemasons. Today,
there are more than four million Freemasons around the world from
virtually every walk of life. Within our Fraternity our members meet as
equals.
Every Freemason must profess a belief in Deity, but
Freemasonry is not a religion and is not a forum for religious worship.
Our members represent diverse religious beliefs, but they are at one in
their belief in religious and political
freedom.
Freemasonry is proud of its tradition of
"making good men better." We are men of charity and good works
who remain unchallenged as the world's greatest philanthropic
organization.
Freemasons in the United States contribute more
than one million dollars every day to charitable causes which they alone
have established. These services to mankind demonstrate the humanitarian
commitment of our unique and honorable Fraternity.
Anyone
seeking to join our Fraternity need only ask a Mason for a petition to
join. Members of the Lodge vote by secret ballot. To be accepted, the
ballot must be unanimous. |

Description of Freemasonry...
The Masonic order is best defined; "As a system of morality based on allegory and illustrated by symbols.
Taking delight in its secrecy and ritual and finding comfort in the brotherhood of an ancient order. The rituals of Freemasonry
and the Scottish Rite are elaborate, the trappings are ornate with men believing in helping each other as brothers and learning the fundamental
truths, the observance of which tend to promote stability of character, conservatism, and good citizenship".
We are the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
